SARAH BERNSTEIN
ABOUT
Sarah Bernstein is an artist, educator, poet, and animist based in East Tennessee. She holds an MFA in Time Based Art from UT Knoxville and a BFA in Printmaking from Washington University.
​
In addition to her formal education, she spent twelve years apprenticing with a Slavic folk healer and dream-keeper. This experience exists constantly in the spinal fluid of her creative practice.
​
Her work orients itself toward the intersections of hand-making, digital, and perfomance practices, and touches on the poetic tensions that exist between pain, humor, sentimentality, and awe.
