SARAH BERNSTEIN

This video series, Agatha,  was developed at the ComPeung Artist Residency in Chiang Mai, Thailand during the summer of 2016.

​Between 2015-2017 I was engaged intensive Butoh dance study and these videos draws heavily from that practice. This residency was preceded by 3 months of intensive butoh training in the Himalyan mountain town of McLeod Ganj. These works, which deconstruct butoh techniques and cohesive narrative, center on a chthonic character, Agatha, and how she negotiates relational dynamics, immediate environment, and sense of time.
