SARAH BERNSTEIN

Agatha was developed at the ComPeung Artist Residency in Chiang Mai, Thailand during the summer of 2016. Between 2015-2017 I was engaged intensive Butoh dance study and this series of videos draws heavily from that practice. This residency was preceded by 3 months of intensive butoh training in the Himalyan mountain town of McLeod Ganj. These stories, which move in and out classic butoh and cohesive narrative, center on a mercurial character named Agatha and how she negotiates her relationships, emotions, environment, and sense of time.
